Depending on advanced technology and quick and flexible private capital to meet the requirement of nuclear decommissioning in China, the academy is a joint venture founded by Xianchu Group, collaborating with Ukraine State Scientific Technical Centre for Nuclear and Radiation Safety, and Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants of NAS of Ukraine
Sino-Ukrainian Xianchu Academy on Decommissioning of Nuclear Power Plants is committed to the use of private capital, by introduction, absorption, transformation of foreign advanced nuclear power decommissioning technology to enhance the country's nuclear competitiveness, upgrade nuclear power decommissioning technology and related equipment, train national high-end nuclear power decommissioning technical personnel and contribute to sustainable development of green nuclear power.
In June 2016, academy’s project "Design And Manufacturing of Transferring Robot And Device in Radioactive Environment " was listed in the 2017 - 2018 China-Ukraine major intergovernmental science and technology exchange project. In March 2017, Ukraine National Academy of Sciences signed the strategic cooperation agreement with XianChu Group, and the talent introduction and technical cooperation in the high-end field of nuclear power decommissioning in Ukraine will be incorporated into the strategic cooperation between the two countries. "Strong Irradiation Robot Project" and "Soil Remediation Project" are in preparation now.
1. Strong Irradiation Robot Project
Robots are the most effective means of replacing human beings to work in the radiation environment and a prerequisite for decommissioning nuclear facilities. The Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants of NAS of Ukraine has accumulated rich experience in this area, especially the development and use of robots in strong radioactive environment is always at the leading position in the world.
2. Contaminated Soil Remediation
After the Chernobyl nuclear accident, Ukraine has become one of the few countries in the world to master the radioactive contaminated soil remediation technology. Up to now, it has been able to remediate the radioactive soil to agricultural state, and has applied its technology in heavy metal contaminated soil remediation in other parts of Europe.
